Rapé
What is Rapé?
Rapé is often made of several Amazonian plants, but the core of most Rapé is tobacco. This Amazonian tobacco, also known as Mapacho, is used extensively in tribal rituals and is much stronger than the tobacco found in cigarettes. In addition to tobacco, Rapé usually includes the alkaline ashes of other plants. The tobacco and other plants are ground into a fine powder, which is blown high into each nostril through a ceremonial pipe called a Tepi.
The Indigenous Peoples have long used Rapé as a form of prayer calling upon the forces of nature, the blessings of the animals, and the power of medicinal plants to heal and give strength.
Rapé can help you in the following ways:
Focuses and Sharpens the Mind
Clears a Person of Distracting and Negative Energies
Detoxes Body and Mind, Clearing your Energetic Field
Clears Sinuses of Mucus and Bacteria
Provides a Calming and Grounding Effect on the Emotions
Can Induce a Physical Purge
Can be Used in Conjunction with Other Treatments
The Experience of Using Rapé
Rapé is a cleansing medicine; after taking it you may experience sensations such as pins and needles in areas of the brain, a burning sensation in the nostrils or effects such as tears, mucus, sweating, vomiting and even diarrhea.
Although this is an admittedly uncomfortable part of the experience, some people say the pain is an integral part of the spiritual and physical cleansing process—by purging deep-seated toxins, you come out feeling calmer, more focused, and more aligned with your true Self.
