The Medicine
Bufo Alvarius commonly known as ‘Bufo’ or ‘Sapo’ is found in Northern Mexico and the Southwestern United States. The toad’s primary defence system are glands which produce 5-MeO-DMT and bufoteninchemicals belonging to the family of hallucinogenic tryptamines. Taking this entheogen is a deeply spiritual experience. It helps to release DMT in the brain, through the pineal gland.
The pineal gland produces DMT in small quantities during profound life experiences: intense meditation, mindful states, deep healing, lucid dreaming, natural childbirth (in both mother and child), near death experiences and during death itself. The medicine’s effects last anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour. Each journey is unique and depends on the process of the participant. Some leave the body and are reborn.
