Kambo preparation
1. Kambo | Diet
Although there is no official diet, I advise refraining from sex, alcohol, drugs, commercial tobacco, caffeine, meat, wheat, sugar, dairy and spicy, processed or fried foods for at least 3 days prior to Kambo. Respecting a diet in preparation for a medicine journey strengthens resolve and deepens your intention. The longer the diet is kept pre and post ceremony, the more profound the healing and integration in the physical cells of the body. Kambo also requires you to fast for at least 8 hours before the session.
2. Kambo | Intention
‘Our INTENTION creates our reality.’ ~Wayne Dyer
Because of the strength and Sacredness of Kambo, it is recommended to come into the ceremony with a clear and genuine intention. The medicine is not intended for recreational use. It is a tool for healing and expansion. Consider areas in your life where you can use some help.
To help formulate your intention, here are some questions to ask yourself:
- What do I want to work on or heal with this medicine?
- What do I want to let go of?
- What do I want to call into my life?
- What destructive habits, patterns or behaviours do I want to release?
- What is my highest path and purpose?
- How can I be of service?
During the ceremony you will have intense sensory experiences, which may provoke a strong emotional response. You will face your self/Self, your traumas, your addictions and your limiting beliefs.
3. Kambo | The Ceremony
Come to your ceremony with an empty stomach. Fast for at least 8 hours before applying Kambo.
Drink 1 – 2 litres of water within the hour of arriving at your ceremony.
Arrive to your appointment 15 minutes early to receive Rapé (optional) and to drink the remaining 1 – 2 litres of water. Water eases purging giving the medicine a vehicle to travel through the body scanning areas that need healing. It also assists in expelling toxins out of your body.
Wear easy loose-fitting clothes for the ceremony. It is wise to bring an extra set of clothes.
Taking Kambo means a short but intense physical and mental process lasting up to one hour.
Depending on your reason for taking Kambo, the status of your health, how many sessions you plan to receive and whether you have any time restraints on the day of your first treatment, I may begin by applying a single test point to introduce your body to the medicine and monitor its resistance and sensitivity. One point works as a micro dose and offers the benefits of Kambo at a gentler pace. The effects are usually mild and there is often no purge. If you’re only receiving one Kambo session, it is recommended to receive at least 3 – 5 portals to reboot all systems of the body.
Kambo enters the lymphatic system through openings in the skin called points, portals or gates. These points are burnt into the top layer of your skin using a small stick. The medicine is rehydrated using your saliva, initiating the process of healing with your own DNA. The mixture is applied to each opening and quickly spreads through the lymphatic system, waking up the body’s natural ability to heal on a cellular level. This reset boosts your immune system.
The first effects consist of an increasing feeling of warmth in the upper body, blushing and a faster heart rate. The medicine scans the body finding areas needing support. You may experience throbbing or burning sensations in areas where the medicine is at work. The blood vessels dilate and blood flow increases. You may become dizzy, nauseous, foggy or shaky. Fainting can occur and you may experience difficulty swallowing. Other common reactions include tingling in your hands and feet as well as swelling, usually in the face, ears and throat.
The peptides remove toxicity from the body via the stomach, saliva or pores. Purging can take a number of forms including vomiting, diarrhea, sweating, crying and sounding. The discomfort is an accumulation of toxins (physical and emotional) in your body, wanting to be released.
After purging, nausea begins to subside. The medicine is usually removed in 30-40 minutes. The burn marks will heal and fade with time, but depending on your skin type and colour, you may always have small visible scars to remind you of this powerful Ancestor. Applying Dragon’s Blood to the wound will speed up the formation of a scab and help the healing process.
Take the necessary rest after this physically and emotionally demanding process. You can eat and drink normally once the session is over and effects have worn off. Directly following a Kambo session you may feel an increase of energy, stamina, clarity and wellbeing. Others may feel tired and weak for a day or two. Although rare, the purge and swelling can continue for several days after the treatment.
4. Kambo | Future Applications
Even one session of Kambo can prove to be beneficial, however, steady use of the medicine has more potential to heal degenerative or chronic conditions. In these situations, it is wise to create a protocol with your practitioner which can be adjusted as we monitor your process.
It is recommended to receive 3 treatments in a single moon cycle (1 month), for inoculation and to boost the immune system.
